About the studio

A studio that
feels like yours.

Founded in 2017 on South Higgins. Independent, intentional, and built around the idea that yoga should meet you where you are.

Maya, the founder of Root & Rise, teaching a yoga class
Our story

Started small. Stayed that way.

Root & Rise opened in 2017 above a coffee shop on South Higgins. Maya had been teaching yoga in Missoula for six years and wanted to build the kind of studio she always wished she could practice in. Small classes. Real attention. No flashy branding. No competitive vibe.

Nine years and one renovation later, the studio is still small on purpose. We cap every class at ten students. We know our regulars by name. New students get a check-in before their first class so they walk in feeling oriented, not lost.

You will not find heated rooms, leaderboards, or a points system here. You will find a single studio room with wood floors, soft light, and one instructor who is fully paying attention.

What we believe

Three things we hold close.

Yoga meets you

You do not need to be flexible, strong, or experienced to walk into our studio. The practice meets you wherever you are today, in whatever body you have today.

Small on purpose

Ten students per class, no exceptions. Smaller classes mean better instruction, real adjustments, and a room that actually knows each other.

Real instruction

Every class is taught live by a certified instructor. No pre-recorded videos, no shouted cues, no rushing through the sequence to fit a clock.
